Helping Paws furthers the independence of individuals with physical disabilities through the use of service dogs. Union Church supports this local (located in Hopkins) nonprofit that trains service dogs through the use of “foster families” thus giving the trainees a very real life training experience.

The United Church of Christ encourages all congregations to pursue greater accessibility and inclusion by becoming “A2A” Accessible to All congregations. To be an A2A church is to enable the full participation of every member in the life of the congregation. Service dogs make this possible for people with a wide variety of disabilities.

We have a special connection to this organization through the Shoger family who have served Helping Paws as a foster family. Thank you to the Shoger family for their work and witness.
