Thanksgiving Day Free Store

The Thanksgiving Day Free Store (TDFS) is again gearing up for the big day..year 21? Or 22? Many thanks to all who have shopped, counted and donated funds. Without this ongoing help, we would not be able to continue this outreach.

What began as a Christmas Toy Store on Xmas Day, serving 100+ children, quickly moved to Thanksgiving Day serving over 700 guests the past three years providing a winter jacket, new long and regular underwear, new white socks, hats & scarves, gloves & mittens, misc. clothing, backpacks & totes, school supplies and a personal care pack for each guest. Friends, we are truly appreciated and needed. We are once again the grateful recipient of a financial gift from Luther Automotive. They will again order special large size clothing items for men. Many thanks to this very generous company. Work will begin in Fellowship Hall on November 16 and continue through the week. We unpack, sort by size, and count & pack in marked tubs. The sign-up sheets are in Fellowship Hall Sunday, November 1. Any time folks can give will be much appreciated.

We will also pack 600 personal care packs, doing the usual assembly line (date to be determined). November 24 is our “Load and Haul” event. We gather about 6:00p.m. for pizza, juice and bonding. Then we load trucks and vans, drive to St. Stephens (22nd & Clinton), and get partially set up for Thursday. Look for the “Load & Haul” sign up sheet in the Narthex.
