Season of Community Activities

Now that schools are out and I’ve got some garden plants potted, I was hoping to get into a summer rhythm. You know, the slower-relaxed pace of fewer church activities or meetings or community activities. But wait… this is the high season of community activities!

My jet-lag has worn off but my calendar continues to fill up with ISAIAH trainings and meetings, the MN Conference UCC Annual Meeting, the Parktacular Parade , an IFTAR dinner at the Lenox Center, AND a puppet show on the church’s front lawn – ALL in just the next 3 weeks!

In case you missed the amazing Dove Puppet produced by Hunter Marionettes (our own Kurt & Kathy Hunter), sign up at church to participate in the Parktacular parade (you can ride in the bed of our pick up if you don’t want to walk) and get an up close view as we share this tremendous message of peace, love, and justice with the whole community!

But wait… there’s one more special event to announce! It’s a Community Mural. A local artist has offered to design a mural for the wall in the upper parking lot! The Executive Council will make final approval of the design and there will be two weekend dates to come ‘paint by number’. While the church doesn’t have funds to support this endeavor, if you are interested in contributing, write ‘mural’ in the memo line of your check. WATCH for the handout in your bulletin for more information.

Union Church has so much to offer our community! I hope you will invite your friends and neighbors to check us out this summer.
