Music

Union’s music program brings a rich emotional expression to the congregation in worship. In the process of preparing music for worship services, our choir members and handbell ringers — both children and adults — develop a strong bond with one another, a commitment to the congregation, and a love for a wide variety of music. New choir members are always welcome.

Music on the church organ

Ring Out

Ring Out, our adult handbell choir, plays for Sunday morning worship every five to six weeks. Rehearsals are filled with laughter, plenty of patience (as we all learn at different speeds) and lots of marvelous music. New members are welcome to join anytime!

Senior Choir

Our repertoire is wide, from early motets of Josquin des Prez to Christian contemporary pieces, from classics by J.S. Bach, Herbert Howells and Benjamin Britten to the more recent compositions of Moses Hogan and Bradley Ellingboe. Our commitment to presenting diverse musical styles stems from our desire to embrace the vision of a multiracial, multicultural church. And all the while, we have a lot of fun.

If you are eager to share in the ministry of making music for worship and are willing to attend regularly, you are welcome! Be sure to check our rehearsal schedule, above. For more information, call choir director Art Clyde at 952-929-8566.

Joy Singers during Palm Sunday service

Joy Singers

The Joy Singers (grades 2–8) share their music in worship every five to six weeks. The older children help the younger children follow along when we use printed music, and the children revel in the tone-matching games we play. Occasionally we play tone chimes or rhythm instruments to accompany our songs, and almost every rehearsal includes a song with actions that fills our choir room with the special enthusiasm children bring to music-making. New members are always welcome — the more, the merrier!
