Worship

At Union Congregational, while our theology is liberal, our worship leans traditional: Choirs sing to organ accompaniment, kids gather up front for the children’s lesson, Bible scriptures are read, and our pastor’s sermon provides food for thought for the coming week.

But that’s not to say that a drum circle or even a didgeridoo is out of place. Or that the pastor doesn’t weekly inject laughter into a sermon. Or that our liturgy—regularly referring to God as Creator, Redeemer and Sustainer—doesn’t vary from the churches of our childhoods.

Indeed, creativity infuses our worship on a regular basis. More examples? A work of art displayed up front may highlight the week’s message. Members may turn thespian, sharing a message via skit. Or umbrellas may pop open throughout the congregation to make a subtle point about the need to fix a leaky roof (it’s fixed!).
